Welcome to the Youngstown City School District

Welcome to the Youngstown City School District!

I’m excited and proud to be your new CEO and look forward to meeting and working with our families and community members as we all work together to ensure our scholars earn the best education we can provide.

As I learn about the school district, I’m impressed with all of the programs and services available to our scholars. It’s a school district and a city experiencing a new birth and I am excited to be a part of this Phoenix.

I come to Youngstown after about three and a half years as the superintendent of the Muskegon Public Schools in Muskegon, Michigan.  During my career, I have served scholars in nearly every level of their education. I taught kindergarten, worked as an Assistant Principal, Principal, Executive Principal, Director of Special Education, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Superintendent.

I attended Purdue University on a basketball scholarship and earned my bachelor’s degree. I also earned three master’s degrees in Educational Leadership, Special Education Administration and Special Education with an emphasis on Emotional Impairments from Grand Valley State University. As well as an Educational Specialist in Leadership and Curriculum. I am completing my doctorate of education in Educational Leadership from the University of Michigan. (But I’m an Ohio State fan, I promise! A true Boilermaker!!!)

I plan several meetings and events during these first few months as I get to know the community and the school district. We’ll start with small gatherings for morning coffee and evening iced tea with families and community members. We’ll also do family movie nights and other fun things that include you and our scholars.

I’m excited to be here and to begin working as your new Chief Executive Officer. Please reach out to my office if I can be of assistance!
