East High is looking for a few good readers!!!  How about you?  Do you love to experience new people, places and things through the joy of reading??  If so, we would love to have you on the East High English Festival team as we start getting busy for this year’s virtual event.

The YSU English Festival will take place virtually on April 21, 22, 23, 2021 from the Youngstown State University campus. The East High 10th-12th grade team will attend on Wednesday, April 21st and the East High 9th grade team will attend on Friday, April 23rd. To prepare for the spring event, you will read seven books chosen for your grade level and your progress will be monitored throughout the year. 

Guest speaker this year is Rita Sepetys, author of Between Shades of Gray and Salt to the Sea, both titles on the official Festival book list. Competitions include a variety of reading and writing activities such as impromptu essays, workshops, dramatic and artistic performances, book discussions, language games and “not-so-trivial-pursuit” competitions.
