Key Reminders for the 2024-2025 School Year

School begins on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. Youngstown Rayen Early College High School starts on August 19, 2024.

Wilson Alternative School and Virtual Academy: 7:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

• How do I register my scholar for the school year? YCSD transitioned to FinalForms, where all necessary forms, like registration and medical documents, are to be completed.

• Is transportation offered? The Youngstown City Schools Transportation Department will provide transportation for eligible PreK-8 resident scholars. High school transportation is not available. The WRTA is an alternative high schoolers may utilize https://www.wrtaonline.com. For more information, visit the

• Are school supplies being provided? No, families are responsible for purchasing school supplies. Lists are available at this link: https://bit.ly/SchoolSupplies2425

• Updated cell phone policy:

  In May 2024, Governor Mike DeWine signed House Bill 250, which requires every school district in Ohio to establish an official policy governing cell phone usage during school hours and seeks to minimize student cell phone use in K-12 schools. YCSD already has a board policy prohibiting electronic device use. However, the board, and district, will introduce Yondr pouches for grades 5-12. Yondr pouches are designed to temporarily lock away cell phones and Bluetooth devices such as headphones and smartwatches. During school hours, scholars will place their phones and any Bluetooth device in the pouch, which stays with their homeroom teacher until the end of the school day.  Read more about the updated cell phone procedures here: https://bit.ly/YCSDYondr

• Breakfast and Lunch: All enrolled scholars receive no cost breakfast and lunch all year long. Menus for elementary through high school are updated monthly.

• How does the district communicate with families?

  YCSD utilizes multiple channels to send important communications with families. It is imperative we have up to date contact information, and for families not to opt out of any communications from the district. The below channels will also be used to send updates, including any emergency communications.
