Tamia and Timothy Woods, founders of the Do it For James Foundation, held talks with middle and high school scholars to bring awareness about an online crime that is more common than you may think: sextortion. https://www.wkbn.com/news/local-news/youngstown-news/district-hosts-human-trafficking-bullying-assembly/

Sextortion is when one receives a threat of sharing their nude or explicit images. The Woodsā€™ son, James, was your average teenager who loved video games and anime and had dreams of becoming a lawyer. On November 19, 2022, James took his own life because of 200 harassing messages he received in less than a day due to sextortion.

The Woods make it their mission to share Jamesā€™ story with the masses to bring awareness about these crimes that impact thousands. Their work has helped 30 people through sextortion with no plans to stop advocating and aiding others who need their help.

Youngstown City Schools sincerely thank Mr. and Mrs. Woods for sharing Jamesā€™ story and having this important dialogue with our scholars.

Please know that you matter.
