Youngstown City School District is honored to announce that it has received a $196,600 grant from the Youngstown Foundation to support district-wide programs and initiatives.
The Youngstown Foundation is the largest and oldest grant-making Foundation in the Mahoning Valley and one of the largest in Ohio. The Foundationās gift is a continued legacy in supporting education in our community, specifically with Youngstown City Schools through its Judge William Rayen Fund. The trust was established in 1854 by the estate of Judge William Rayen to fund The Rayen School, which became the first public school in Mahoning County. The fund has continued perpetually and has aided the district and scholars for generations.
The grant will provide funding for a multitude of areas, such as:
Classroom to Capitol, $15,000
Sojourn to the Past $15,000
English Festival, $1,600
East High School Bear Day, Building Cultures, Destination Imagination $40,000
Chaney High School, PBIS and Attendance Incentives, $15,500
Rayen Early College Middle School, Field Trips and Incentives, $20,500
Rayen Early College High School, Summer Bridge Program NYC Trip, $39,000
Administrative Support and Family Communications, $50,000
