group of middle school girls and a teacher at a university YCSD celebrates the outstanding scholars from East Middle School and Rayen Early College Middle School for their participation in the Northeast Ohio STEM Goes Red event on December 9, 2024, at The NEW Center at the Northeast Ohio Medical University!

This event connected 7th and 8th-grade girls with inspiring female leaders in STEM, opening doors to careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. They engaged in interactive programs that sparked curiosity and built confidence and inspire their future paths.

Scholars were thrilled to have the experience for the day. ā€œI really liked the field trip because I got to learn new things and explore more about them. I also really liked the speeches they gave because it motivated me to continue and do what I love the most in life,ā€ said 7th grader Zamarys. According to another seventh grader, Antionna, ā€œI would love to go again. I had so much fun learning about different things. I mostly like science and the CPR part.ā€

We are proud of these young women as they work toward becoming future scientists and innovators. A special thank you to the American Heart Association and the STEM Goes Red initiative for fostering opportunities for young women in STEM!
