During the organizational meeting on January 14, 2025, the Youngstown Board of Education retained Juanita Walker as president and Tina Cvetkovich as vice president.
Juanita Walker is a lifelong resident of Youngstown and a 1996 graduate of The Rayen High School. She holds an Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Kent State University.
“I am honored to continue serving on the Board of Education and supporting our scholars and public education,” said Walker. “I thank my fellow board members for their ongoing leadership and look forward to collaborating with them, along with district leadership, teachers, staff, and families, for the betterment of Youngstown City Schools.”
Tina Cvetkovich has also lived in Youngstown her entire life and graduated from East High School. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Youngstown State University and became a state-certified Family Peer Mentor in 2020.
Cvetkovich added, “I am proud to serve on the Youngstown Board of Education. Youngstown City Schools continues to progress in numerous ways, and I’m excited to see the district maintain and further build upon that momentum. It’s inspiring to witness the dedication of our educators, the enthusiasm of our scholars and the support from the community.”
In addition, the organizational meeting included the introduction of scholar board representatives whose role is to attend board meetings once a month and represent their school. They are Jasmine Cowan (Chaney High School) Mariell Lee (East High School) Dyonn Perry (East High School) and Aiden Kearns Youngstown Rayen Early College High School.
The Youngstown City School Board of Education meets in regular sessions at 5:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, unless otherwise announced. During the summer, meetings begin at 4:00 p.m. Meetings are held in the Commons Area of Choffin Career and Technical Center, 200 E. Wood St.
